The original Babalu Tapas & Tacos opened in 2010 in the heart of the historic Fondren neighborhood in Jackson, Miss. The 4,000 square foot restaurant is housed in a former elementary school built in 1927.
Traces of the building’s roots are still evident with high ceilings, tall windows, and cement walls. You may even notice circular patterns on the ceiling – it’s leftover from the old ceiling tiles! The building’s quirks are just a few of the characteristics that make Babalu unique. Watch classic TV reruns over tapas in the main dining room or unwind with a Baba-rita at the horseshoe-shaped bar or outdoor patio.
